About Dead Pixel Test

Empowering display buyers and technicians with rapid, high-precision browser diagnostic utilities.

Our Mission

When purchasing a new desktop monitor, gaming display, laptop, or secondhand device, users face tight 14 to 30-day return windows. Undetected subpixel defects, backlight bleed, or refresh rate scaling issues discovered after the return window expires can cost hundreds of dollars in unfulfilled warranty claims.

Dead Pixel Test was engineered to provide a 100% client-side, zero-dependency suite of visual and hardware tests that anyone can run in under 30 seconds without installing third-party apps or software drivers.

1. New Device Buyers

Inspect brand new laptops and monitors immediately upon unboxing to request store exchanges before return windows close.

2. Secondhand Buyers

Test hardware on-the-spot during face-to-face marketplace transactions (Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, eBay pickups).

3. IT Repair Technicians

Conduct rapid multi-device quality control audits with our hands-free 2-second auto-cycle mode and printable screen inspection reports.

Testing Methodology & ISO Compliance

Dead Pixel Test builds its diagnostic criteria around the internationally recognized ISO 9241-307 standard for flat-panel display ergonomics and pixel fault classification. Our tests utilize pure RGBW color subpixel excitation, high-frequency canvas noise stimulation, and high-precision browser animation loops to deliver objective empirical measurements.

About the Project Creator & Philosophy

Author: Dead Pixel Test Diagnostics

Mission: Free, open, browser-native screen testing tools

Technical Philosophy

We believe diagnostics should be open-source, client-side, and simple. No tracking cookies, no heavy framework runtimes, and no physical downloads. Just plain HTML, CSS, and vanilla JS doing pure mathematical checks.

Privacy Philosophy

Your hardware feed is your business. All microphone analyzer grids and camera snapshot triggers execute locally within sandbox parameters. No audio loops or pictures are transmitted to our servers.

Testing limitations

Browser checks are diagnostics aids. They do not replace optical colorimeter devices, manufacturer oscilloscope analysis, or factory hardware warranties.
