The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) defines display quality benchmarks under ISO 9241-307 (superseding ISO 13406-2). Most consumer LCD, LED, and OLED displays fall under Class II unless specifically marketed as Class I or Zero Bright Dot.

ISO 9241-307 Pixel Defect Types:

  • Type 1 (Bright Pixel): A pixel permanently locked on full white (all three RGB subpixels illuminated).
  • Type 2 (Dark / Dead Pixel): A pixel permanently dark or black regardless of background color.
  • Type 3 (Stuck Subpixel): An individual subpixel locked on Red, Green, or Blue.
