Testing Your Nintendo Switch Display
Whether you just bought a brand new Nintendo Switch OLED or picked up a secondhand console, running a fullscreen color check ensures you spot any defects while you still have time to return or exchange it.
Switch OLED Model
7.0-inch 720p custom OLED display with true black levels (infinite contrast). On the pure black screen, there should be zero light leakage or green tint.
Standard & Lite (LCD)
6.2-inch and 5.5-inch IPS LCD panels. Check solid White, Red, Green, and Blue screens for non-responsive dark pixels or backlight clouding.
Nintendo’s Official Pixel Defect Statement
Nintendo's official customer support knowledgebase states: "Small numbers of stuck or dead pixels are a characteristic of LCD/OLED screens. These are normal and should not be considered a defect."
What this means for you: Because Nintendo’s warranty support may refuse an RMA claim for 1 or 2 dead pixels, your retailer return policy (Target, Best Buy, Amazon, GameStop) is your primary protection. Always inspect your Switch screen immediately on day 1 so you can do a no-hassle store exchange.
Stuck Subpixel on Your Switch?
Try our high-frequency RGB noise box tool to unfreeze stuck subpixels.
